I am an experienced counselor with over 15 years of experience in the mental health, co-occurring disorders, substance abuse treatment, trauma, grief, and oncology counseling fields. I am from Brazil where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. I also have a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from Capella University and I am currently a pre-licensed counselor.
I have experience providing counseling services to a variety of individuals and groups, including adolescents and adults, in different settings such as private practice, outpatient, short-term inpatient, and hospitals. I am a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
I am passionate about helping, inspiring, and empowering others through counseling. I use an integrative approach being conscious of clients in their totality, taking into consideration the physical, spiritual, and psychological dimensions of their human experience. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Existential Therapy. I have vast experience working with individuals struggling with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, unresolved grief, trauma, and stressor-related disorders. Recently I have included in my counseling practice work with cancer survivors and their loved ones.
I am bilingual in Portuguese and multicultural sensitive as I have acquired experience through the years by working with clients from different cultures.
